We hire one or two people a year — and we keep them.

Aurum is a deliberate meritocracy. If you can classify at 8-digit ITC-HS without being told to, read the tariff for fun, and still like people — read on.

What we look for

Three things we cannot train for. Everything else we can.

We can teach ICEGATE. We can teach scheme mechanics. We cannot teach intellectual curiosity, commercial judgment, or care. Those you bring; we amplify.

Classification depth

You know the difference between 8504.40.90 and 8504.40.21 and why it matters for your client's duty liability. You've read at least one CESTAT ruling on a classification dispute — not because someone told you to, but because you wanted to know who was right. You treat the tariff as a living document, not a lookup table.

ICEGATE proficiency

You can file a Bill of Entry without supervision within your first month. You know what an out-of-charge means, how to get one when the assessing officer is at lunch, and how to read an assessment order to spot an error before the client asks you about it. The system is a tool you've mastered, not a mystery you defer to.

Commercial sense

You understand that a customs brokerage is a trust business. You know why an importer calls their broker at 11pm — and what the answer needs to sound like. You're the person they call. Not because you're always available, but because when you speak, you've already thought it through. You know the difference between what the client wants to hear and what they need to know.

How we work

The operating standards we hold ourselves to

Accuracy over speed

We file when we're right, not when we're quick. A wrong classification costs more than a 2-hour delay. We're precise first, and fast second.

Straight talk

If a product won't clear without BIS registration, we say so before the shipment lands. We don't tell clients what they want to hear at the expense of what they need to know.

Continuous learning

The tariff changes. QCOs are added quarterly. FTA rules get tightened. If you're not learning, you're falling behind. We read CBIC notifications the day they're issued.

Long-term relationships

Our clients don't rotate brokers. We don't rotate clients. Trust compounds over years, not transactions. The people we hire become part of relationships that outlast any individual shipment.

No shortcuts on compliance

We don't suggest misdeclaration. We don't facilitate under-invoicing. We don't file a BoE we're not confident in. CBLR 2018 sets the floor; our own standard sits higher.

Founder access

This is a small team. If something matters, you escalate directly. No layers, no CCs, no process for process's sake. Everyone here knows what's moving and why.

Current openings

No open roles right now

We typically recruit once a year — usually after the January filing peak, when we have a clear picture of what the team needs. Roles are filled by referral or direct application; we don't advertise widely.

If you're serious about customs work — not just looking for a job, but looking for the right place to build depth — send your CV and a short note on the most interesting HS classification dispute you've worked on or read about. We read everything we receive.

We respond to every application that includes a classification note. We don't respond to generic CVs without context.

Why Aurum

A brokerage where the work actually matters

Large freight forwarders have customs desks. What they don't have is a team where classification is the main event, not a support function. Here, the Bill of Entry is the product. The quality of the HS code we assign, the scheme we recommend, and the PGA clearance timeline we manage — that's what keeps clients for years.

If you've spent time at a large forwarder doing volume filing and want to do fewer transactions with more thought per transaction, that's what we offer. The clients are more demanding, the problems are more interesting, and the learning curve doesn't plateau.

What the role looks like

A day in the life

  • Pre-arrival document review and HS classification confirmation for incoming consignments
  • Bill of Entry filing on ICEGATE for FCL and LCL import consignments at TKD, Faridabad, and Dadri
  • PGA liaison — tracking BIS, FSSAI, WPC clearance status and coordinating with labs and registrars
  • Client communication on clearance status, examination queries, and duty payment confirmations
  • Scheme advisory — identifying RoDTEP, EPCG, MOOWR, and drawback opportunities for active clients
  • Reviewing new CBIC notifications and QCOs and updating internal classification matrices accordingly
